Tri-Cities United Soccer Club, the premier youth soccer club in the region, is excited to announce that Wilfred Williams, has been named our new Director of Coaching (DOC), effective immediately. Wilfred brings with him an unparalleled resume, with his soccer journey beginning as a youth club player in the region, including with TCU, an academy player at F.C. Dallas (MLS), and a Division 1 player at Memphis and Oakland University, before being drafted by Sporting Kansas City in the 2018 MLS draft. He has extensive professional playing experience at clubs including Orlando City B, Detroit City FC, Oakland Roots, and Chattanooga FC. Prior to being appointed DOC, he was most recently the Director of Player Development and has been integral in building the TCU Junior Academy Program. He is excited to be taking on this new role as DOC and continue the work of high-level instruction, communication, and curriculum development/implementation in collaboration with the coaching staff.

“I’m excited, and humbled, to be given the opportunity to lead my childhood club, where I made such great memories and began my career in the game I love,” Williams said. “I believe I can make a big impact as long as I follow the three pillars I live by RESPECT, COMMIT, and COMPETE. I promise to RESPECT the players, parents, coaches, and the position of a DOC; to COMMIT to the players, coaches, parents, and the club; and to COMPETE for the players, parents, coaches, and the club.” Williams continued by saying “As the leader of our soccer club, I have ambitious dreams and plans that I hope will leave a lasting legacy. Although I recognize that it won't be an easy journey, especially given my young age, I'm eager to face whatever challenges come my way - both good and bad. Every experience will be an opportunity for me to learn and grow, ultimately making me a stronger leader. I'm looking forward to getting started and seeing what the future holds.”

Tariq Zaidi, Board President said “ On behalf of the Board and the entire Club we are thrilled to introduce Wilfred as our newest DOC and are looking forward to the heights to which he will take us. We are grateful to have someone with such an impressive soccer background, who is a former TCU player, leading the way with genuine devotion, enthusiasm, and care for the players, the club, and the game.” Zaidi went on to say that “We would like to thank Nick Boegemann, our former DOC, for his leadership at TCU, and which him and his family all the best, as he moves to Georgia to take a role with Tormenta, FC.

“I’m thrilled to announce a community specific expansion into Bristol/SWVA for the upcoming year,” said TCU Director of Coaching & Operations Nick Boegemann. “The expansion of TCU into Bristol allows for additional opportunities for local players that are looking to take their next step outside of traditional grassroots programming.”

With expansion comes exciting new partnerships. Tri-Cities United is excited to collaborate with the Bristol Sportsplex to be the hub for TCU in Bristol. The club will have access to their state of the art soccer facility for training throughout the season.

“Bristol Sportsplex is excited to partner with Tri-Cities United as they expand into Bristol/SWVA starting this fall. This expansion will help grow the game and benefit local players looking to reach their next level.” added Bristol Sportsplex Director of Soccer Andrew Rhoda.

TCU and The Bristol Sportsplex are committed to growing the game at all levels and will continue to support any/all grassroot organizations that share this same idea.
